PrestaShop for B2B and wholesale: prices, discounts, orders

Price groups, quantity discounts, VAT shown the right way round and reverse charge across the EU — in the core, not as a workaround.

B2B selling plays by different rules from selling to consumers: every partner can have their own price, a discount by quantity and their own payment terms. A general-purpose store cannot do that without workarounds, and the workarounds are where the errors live. PrestaShop supports it in the core.

Price groups and special prices

You sort customers into groups — retailer, distributor, consumer — and each group sees its own prices. An individual partner can also have special prices on selected products. All of it without anyone editing an order by hand, which matters more the more orders you take.

Quantity discounts

Volume discounts — more units, lower price per unit — encourage larger orders. PrestaShop calculates them automatically and shows them clearly in the basket, so the buyer sees the reason to add two more.

Prices with or without VAT

Business buyers expect prices excluding VAT; consumers expect them including it. PrestaShop shows the right one depending on the customer group. Inside the EU there is a second layer: for a business customer with a valid VAT number in another member state, VAT is reverse-charged, and the store should handle the VIES check rather than leaving it to whoever opens the post. It is a detail, but it is the kind of detail business buyers notice.

Connecting to ERP and stock

In B2B, synchronising stock, prices and orders with your ERP or accounting system is close to essential. It removes double entry, and with it the mismatch between what the store promises and what is on the shelf. We handle that as part of custom development.

What usually goes wrong

The common failure is not technical. It is a B2B store built as a consumer store with a discount code bolted on, so every unusual partner arrangement ends up as a manual correction. Sort the price groups out before the catalogue, not after.
